Hi!
I'm hoping to start a book club for people who enjoy reading the same types of books as me (more on that below) and in the process hope to meet some like-minded people who would like to get together over a glass of wine - or a mocktail if that's your preference - to discuss books and make some new friends.
I generally like to read for fun so I read mostly fiction, and I stay very in tune with bestsellers. My references when choosing a new book are usually Reese's Book Club recommendations, or the instagram account @beachreadsandbubbly.
My goodreads username is: Cconnolly6 if you'd like to take a look at what I've read recently.
Hoping to hear from you if this sounds interesting!
FYI: Late 30's female, new to Hoboken from LA (but grew up in Jersey), and work in HR for an advertising agency.
When I moved to New York, I imagined sitting with friends, enjoying a bottle of wine, and discussing a great novel we had just finished, but my friends dont always have the same taste in novels nor interest in reading. Apparently Eric imagined the same, albeit with a pipe and tweed sport coat with leather elbow patches. We would like to organize a social book club for couples looking for an opportunity to meet people with similar interests, with open minds to read new literature and a common desire to share our thoughts over a glass of wine and/or tea/coffee.
Our proposed rules (flexible of course) would be meet monthly, no book over 400 pages, fiction (flexible), and alternating book discussion leaders. Example of books weve recently read: The Corrections, In the Shadow of the Banyan, The Piano Turner, Lost In Shangri-La, A Devil in the White City, Lost City of Z, Snowdrops, Killer Angels and Consider the Lobster
If you are interested, please email: chelseabookmarks@gmail.com.
Warm regards,
Lindsey & Eric
We are a group of gay guys of all ages who meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm at the Jefferson Market branch of the public library on 6th Avenue & West 10th Street. We read an eclectic range of books from classics to newly-released works. We don't necessarily read books with a gay theme or characters and always open to suggestions. Very easy going; more social than academic. You don't necessarily have to commit to coming every single month, just whenever your schedule or reading tastes permit.
Hi, I know a lot of you are looking to unleash your inner history buff. Good news: I'm starting a social book club for people like you!
We'll read both history and historical fiction- whatever's a fun time. Bigraphies are fair game, too!
Let's make some new friends over food, drink, and common interests. E-mail if interested!
New book club! Looking to read historical fiction, adventure, some of the great books, classics, and mix in some popular best-sellers. AS WELL, please view this as a way to expand your social network! So if you are a smart, fun, intellectually curious type that wants to make some new friends, this should be perfect for you. We will meet once a month and depending on the group's interest, have some other social/educational outings as well.
